Benoît Bringer‘s award-winning documentary “The Men Who Stole the World” is currently showing on Amazon Prime. The Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist interviewed me in 2018 for this documentary, where I appear in a portion of his larger story about the 2008 financial crisis.

In my portion, we discussed what I knew at the time, my actions to try and stop it, and how much of my testimony was ignored, and no one was prosecuted for the massive fraud. I’ve discussed this before, but seeing it on Prime brings up the feelings of the time and makes me wonder about the current fragility of finance and economic practice.

When it premiered on French TV, the documentary received great reviews and over 600,000 people watched. For years, it has only been shown on many European venues and was nominated for Best Documentary of 2019 at the prestigious Prix Europa. Now it’s open to an even larger U.S. market on Amazon Prime.

Along with the documentary’s trailer, I posted a longer description of the filming in an earlier post. From who benefited, to who tried to hold them accountable, and finally who paid a price for their actions, Bringer covers every angle of what happened leading up to and during the 2008 financial crisis, also called “the perfect crime.”
I have to wonder, could it happen again? Watch “The Men Who Stole the World” on Amazon Prime and let me know what you think.
